For my project, I wanted to represent the idea of routines being bizarre. Every day we do mundane tasks which, upon repetition, are treated as normal. Yet to another body of people who is not used to such routines, they can be seen as weird rituals enacted by a foreign society. For my project, I composed a set of three routines which deviate from our own regular routines. I slowed down parts to represent how time consuming these mindless activities can sometimes be, while reversing and fast forwarding other parts of the clip to represent the fact that we are constantly undoing them and repeating them again. My videos call upon absurdity, randomness, a hint of sexuality, and the idea that many things we do in everyday life are superfluous and time consuming. It is partly a satire and partly a demonstration into the way in which normal things can be seen as bizarre when taken out of their normal environments.
